I have this huge problem when I try to approach new people, I can never do it and if I do, I completely freeze up and I'm not just talking about girls, guys as well. When I'm in school I'm generally fine and can talk to people but the fact that I go to an all-boys school and can never talk to people outside it, has led to me never having a girlfriend. I was just wondering if anybody knew a good way to break out of shyness and be able to approach new people. Thanks in advance

Something is causing your anxiety. Speak to your doctor. Medical or mental, help is available.

The easiest way is to be a volunteer for some charity. For example, I belong to this group where we decided to have a garage sale and sell our junk then give the money to the Humane Society. I would give out flyers about the yard sale and ask people if they would be kind enough to donate anything they didn't want anymore to our sale. Some people would be nice and say "yes." Two even offered to work the garage sale. I got to talk to guys who came to the yard sale. I had a legit reason to talk to these folks and, now that I've broken the ice, I can talk to them again in the future. It might be something like "Hey, did you think that garage sale went OK? Any suggestions for making it better in the future?" but I have an "in" now for talking to these folks.

Join some co-ed activities. If you are relgious, try some groups at where you worship. If not, try finding activites, clubs and groups in which you will meet girls. Such as a co-ed sports team or a book club depending upon your tastes. Don't expect a girlfriend at first, build confidence by forming friendships.
