I am a junior in college and have this ten page paper to write that is due in about a week. I have been procrastinating and basically can't seem to get the motivation to write my paper. Does anyone have any tips to start getting motivated??? I really want to make a good grade on my paper and procrastinating is only going to make me do bad. Thanks for any help or advice. God Bless!

I feel the same way! I am a junior in college also. I was so motivated before but have had to force myself to do things this semester. I have a test this upcoming Wednesday and a presentation due next Wednesday. Instead of studying or doing research, I am on Yahoo Answers! To combat your problem, just force yourself to start working on the paper. Once you get the ball rolling, you will find it gets easier. Don't allow yourself to take a break unless you absolutely have to or you will just go back to procrastinating. Good luck!

well, I would start now. I am a junior in high school, but last year I had to write a ten page paper (0_o) and I waited until the last day. It took me ALL day and I did better than most people (the majority of the class had done the same thing and didn't end up sleeping that night). If you can find someone to hold you accountable, that helps a lot (I know it sounds corny, but if you set up rewards i.e. if one of you doesn't meet the deadline you set for yourself, you have to pay for your buddies breakfast, ect...). Other than that, I don't have much to tell you.

what's your paper on?
-try to section out a bit each day. sit down and work for a half an hour and balance that with some exercise or watching tv afterwards as a reward. then go back and do a little more.
-for me, making an outline for papers is the hardest part. gather and read your sources, then group them based on what they are saying. make an outline and think of a thesis sentence. the rest of the paper will be a breeze after that.
-the longer you let it go, the more and more difficult it is going to get.

Break it up into small parts. If you have the research all done, tell yourself you will write three pages today, three tomorrow, three the day after that, and the remaining page and end notes on the last day. Then you will still have time for revisions. I have been in your shoes before and it is not fun, I feel your pain. You can do it though, in a week, it will all be behind you.

Think about the topic and form an opinion on it. Then see if your research confirms your opinion. In other words, get interested in it. Make it the best paper you ever wrote.
If all else fails, imagine yourself at McD's asking people, "You want fries with that?" for the rest of your life.
