I know it went on for a whopping 10 seasons and was, and still is, seen by millinos of fans around the world. But I really dont think it was actually that funny. I mean, it had its moments, but I think it only had a reputation for humor because it went on for so long and ppl grew attached to it. ive watched quite a few episodes, but i just can't get the humor.

Yes. The first 8 years I only watched occasionally due to work and my lack of a recording device. When it happened to be on, I'd watch and lmao. The last 2 years, I watched faithfully. My BF gifted me with the first 8 seasons on DVD at that point, and I got all caught up. When I feel blue, I'll pop in a disc and feel instantly better. Each episode is packed with little things worth a chuckle at least. In 18 years, it'll still be funny.

As far as attachment goes, when the towers fell, people did curl up with it more. It was good that the horror wasn't written in, but respectably nodded to with wardrobe.

In terms of humor and wit, it was adequate. But the reason it was so great is that it never lost focus in its one-decade run: the characters remained defined and their outlines were clear. They also ensured that all the characters had something to say or do in every episode, but not *anything*: it was calculated. The writing was pretty good, considering it was almost one decade and they still kept it fresh and interesting. Part of its appeal is because it was also a drama at the same time (Ross N' Rachel, Monica N' Chandler, etc.) But it's by no means the greatest show of all time or even in the top ten. In terms of comedy genius, there are shows immeasurably superior, like Arrested Development (the grandaddy of'em all). Other remarkably brilliant shows include Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Scrubs, The Office (US), 8 Simple Rules, Da Ali G Show, Futurama, Malcolm in the Middle, 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Drew Carey Show. All those are a lot funnier than Friends.

I thought it was brilliant. I laughed my *** off all the time with that show. And it's not because it went on long. Actually, I didn't start watching it until last year. My dad had all the DVDs and I just popped in while he was watching an episode and got hooked. I love Friends <3.

when you think a comedian is funny do all of the people you know think that same person is funny? the answer to that is no... then the same time applies to tv shows... not everyone thinks that they all are funny. obviously the show got lots of fans when it was on regularly so there are lots of people who like it... like anything else that involves personal taste... some things appeal to you and some don't... rating a show is just counting the number of people who watch it not guaranteeing that it is something that you will like.

I didn't get it either. I have seen only 3 episodes in the 10 seasons. That was enough for me. maybe I saw the wrong ones to judge it that way.

I never actually watched it when it was new or anything but I do watch the re-runs and I think it's really funny! They all work so well together! Hey...it's your opinion and I respect that...I think it's a funny show though! :)

I loved this show :-) I even scheduled my evening classes I had in college around this show. Every Thursday night, a bunch of the girls and I in my dorm would get together and watch this show.

I never liked Friends and now hate it more than ever. The show appeals to the basest impulses of humans. And there have been questions about the lack of racial diversity on the show. I will be glad when they stop running "Friends" on TV.

Friends was ok. I was never a big fan of it. It did have some funny moments though.

what's really the point of the question? many people like it and others don't. Had I chosen to do something else instead of watch the original broadcasts, reruns, and dvd viewings, perhaps my life would be better, perhaps not, depending on what choices I made.
