Buy something that she really needs and can use. No one likes a gift that just sits in their closet or on top of their bookshelf. Ask her what she wants and if she's very picky then take her to the mall and give her a spending limit and let her get whatever she wants! That would be the best gift.

Definitely clothes. Take her shopping after Christmas, when all the Really good sales are going on, and give her an amount of money she can spend. Let her be there so you don't end up getting her something she doesn't like. Gift cards work too.

A designer top? Girls of 17 are very fashion conscious but it depends how much you want to spend. Branded perfume? A nice handbag? A nice jacket. If you go designer, you just go for something plain if you're worried she won't like what you choose. Or designer jeans?

Maybe you could try Asda, they have some lovely funky jewellery, clothes, shoes, handbags and underwear at very reasonable prices, you could get her quiet a lot for £25 and she will have tons to open on Christmas morning, good luck.

Jewelry, look at Target, Forever 21, American Eagle, or any jewelry store . . .
You could get her a ipod Nano, they aren't very expensive. . .
a gift card from American Eagle, Hollister, Abercrombie, or where ever she likes to shop at. . .
picture frames, photo album, stuff for her car or room . . .
It would be cute to put a lot of this stuff together in a basket or gift bag. I would love any of this stuff!

Try getting her a nice bath set with a pretty scent. Or you could make a basket with different little things in it. If that doesn't work, then maybe just give her a card with money.

I've bought my sister loads of stuff for her room - got this brilliant sliding puzzle photo frame... http://www.alt-gifts.com/shop/shop/page/product/product_id/3933 and then I put together a bag full of hair things because she never uses spray when she straightens her hair and it drives me crazy! Get her a necklace or something - girls that age always want a 'special' piece of jewellery - try a local specialist jewellers and you could even get a charm bracelet made for you with charms that relate to her.
