No animosity...but I think it's official, we have the most negative sterotypes. I wonder why. I was really oblivious to my skin color (anyone's skin color for that matter, and the affect it would have on ones life), until I went to college.

Ive noticed people actually changing the way they talk to me (i.e. "ghetto" slang)...I'm like...uhhh, why are you talking to me like this? lol

I mean, I grew up in a VERY diverse city in California...so stereotyping is ridiculous to me. I look at everyone as an individual. So it's taking me a while to understand why people can't think the same way.

I also think the way black people are perceived in the media affects peoples' perception. Why don't people realize were not all the same...What you see on T.V. is propaganda and an illusion.

I moved to a predominately white suburban neighborhood in California recently...let's just say I don't exactly feel at home lol....blah

Whatever...just ranting. Thoughts?

You are right. Women as a whole don't get much respect from society. Black women in America have been stereotyped as promiscuous & loud/aggressive. You have to understand that when people do not come in direct contact with a certain group of people, they get their perceptions from what they see and hear in 3rd person. It's really sad, but true.

I for one am an Advocate for Women's Rights and a sensitive spot for me is how much us Black Women are not respected! I always will let a person know not to pull that "ghetto" B.S. w/ me because I did not grow up in the Ghetto, I am not from the Ghetto just because I'm Black. Thank God I don't get too many of those stereotypes from people. I have great social skills, personality and I can interact intellectually with anyone of any race, but at the same time I have no problem with letting someone know I'm not to be played with when it comes to my race and sex. You know they all (including Black Men) try and pull that attitude card out on us. And promiscuos.....GIRLS GONE WILD.... need I say more...LOL!!! Sorry I had to say that but Women are in touch w/ their sexuality period and I've met loose WHite, Asian, Black and Hispanic Women, and to be honest, the biggest group of Young Girls that are out here sleeping with dudes, their girlfriends, their friends boyfriends's are White Girls!!! And then you have some Black Girls that do the same. So that category can not fall solely on us. And Aggressive, HELL YES I AM!!!! I have to be, so if you cross me the wrong way, oh well!! LOL! But for the most part I'm sweet and charismatic. So people, stop being so JEALOUS of our STRENGTH and SENSUALity!!!! Dont hate!! LOL!!!

I feel sorry for people that are prejudiced. Just think without the Italian's tomato sauce and the Asian's noodles ever coming together we wouldn't have sphaghetti as we know it. My point is I love living life with diverse people and cultures it adds a great diversity to life. BTW I think black women are some of the sexiest and strongest women in the world. Media does play a big part as well. People need to get to know individuals. There are cool people and a**holes of every race, creed and color. Keep your head up. I date black women and get hazed by both blacks and whites. Screw them I do what makes me happy. If they can't accept me for me then there not worth being around int the first place plus none of them pay my bills, lol.

I feel the same way you do; I'm nothing like that stereotype, I'm not aggressive, or loud, I've always been shy and very ladylike and when people see that they stare at me like I'm from mars lol. Don't feed into their stereotypes, people are idiots if they think all black women are the same.

I don't concern myself with that, I just focus on living my life the way it should be lived.

You're very right. We don't have much respect. I wonder how would everything be if we didn't exist anymore.
