It's hard to make a general response because everyone's ideal gift would be different. My child says a PSP is a good gift, but my idea of a good gift is a dishwasher.

It depends on the recipient. What sort of games does the person like? How old are they, etc? You may want to research software titles and prices.
I have a DS and a PSP and I have to say I enjoy my DS so much more. There are tons more games on there that I like to play, and they are usually cheaper. I find the software on the DS to be varied enough to suit pretty much any taste. I think the most I've ever paid for a game is $35 new as well, which is pretty good.

I gave a PSP to my husband for christmas last year and he loves it. You are able to download music and watch movies. He is also a gaming freak so when he travles he is able to take this with him so he doesn't miss out on any playing time. I enjoy it for the sheer fact I can borrow it to watch movies in between my classes. It all depends on who you are buying it for.

It is a great gift as long as the person you are giving it to would use it and wouldn't feel bad because you spent so much money on them.

absolutely not! there arre no games that are any good for it! its a $200 paper weight! if you want to spent that king of money consider a wii. it is $250, comes with a load of stuff, everything u need to play, even a game! check out ebgames.com for more info. dont waste ur money on anything sony!
