750 mi /(30 mi/gal) = 750/30 mi/(mi/gal)
=25 mi*(gal/mi) =25 gal

In other words if you go 750 miles in a car that does 30 miles per gallon, you use 25 gallons of fuel. Notice that you can divide the units (Miles and Gallons) just like you can divide the numbers. When you have miles on the top and the bottom lines, they cancel each other out.

The proper units are going to be gal

750/30 = 25

This means that if a vehicle goes 750 mi and uses 1 gal to go 30 mi (or to put it another way goes 1 mi and uses 1/30 gal) then its total usage will be, as above 750/30 = 25 gal
