I think both are true. There clearly is a great deal of jockeying for little advantages about who gets what, bridge here, a small contract there. Sometimes effective laws are passed like giving women and Black's the right to vote, and many others. Sometimes highways are built and we go to the moon. But in recent times serious plans have been made and carried out that are not serendipity at all. Ever since Eisenhower warned us that no individual, city, county or state was evermore going to be free of the "military industrial complex" influence, we have been operating on a different agenda. The assassinations of the two Kennedys and Martin Luther King, the war in Vietnam, the continuous manipulation of countries and leaders around the world from Central America to the Middle East, the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Patriot Act, and the torture of "enemy combatants," and much more, all are indications that very powerful individuals are manipulating our country and the world for their advantage and to suit their plans. None of that is happening by chance.

Oh they plan on how to get your money and have you say thank you at the same time for sure. They plan on how to reward their friends at your expense. They plan on how to stay in office as it sure as hell beats working for a living.
