With all the non-believers and people who just don't care, their actions negate those of the people that actually try to help the planet. What do writers and scientists have to say about this?

Find a way to Separate yourself from that group of Negators.
Accept that some of it is out of your control.
Do as much as you can about it Personally,
and take JOY in those actions.

If enough 'believers' don't give up, and enough non-believers are persuaded (more and more every day) it can still be changed.

If enough people 'just don't care' and it still happens you'll know in advance. So...
Moving to a safer Location if necessary (out of flood/hurricane areas)
and setting up a self sustaining home (solar, food/water storage)
then accept the weather as the Earths way of cleansing itself of all those none believers and apathists.

Then it shouldn't interfere too much with your happiness before or after, and if your living life to reduce Global warming before hand it shouldn't be too big of a shock if the current energy infrastructure shuts down.

Most people aren't happy about it. They just don't know what they can do about it or think anything they actually do will not matter.

Global warming will not destroy the earth. It will change it and we will have to adapt to those changes. If Katrina is any example, a lot of people will die because of it.

We are, most likely, past the threshold point where global warming is concerned and will need to be prepared and prepare our children and grand children for what's to come.

If we ready ourselves, it may be something as simple as Y2K. But, I'm thinking it's not going to be that simple.

Don't Worry be happy. Understand there is nothing in Physical Reality but YOU. Life is a self perpetuating delusion, thus as you think so goes your life. As you thought yesterday, created your today, as you think today will create your tomorrow.
Do your own thing, don.t add the baggage of negative thoughts.

*Bemused* I have to agree with Spypen wholeheartedly. I may be laid back and apathetic to our 'omgnaturaldizazt3r!11', but at least I won't die of an ulcer. :)
