Oh man, you are in for some trouble. I bought a land rover about a year ago and had to resell it last summer to the dealership just to cut my losses. I had the same thing happening along with numerous other problems. After taking the car in at least once per month for 2 to 3 day durations, for a period of 10 months, I decided to cut my loses and get an SUV that does not have as many reported problems. Plus, my warranty was about to run out! Are you still under warrenty? If so, the brake censor light should be covered. If not, they will probably charge a few hundred to fix. If you have just bought this suv, brace yourself because I can just about guarentee that there will be a light that comes on at least once a month. These suvs are fun to drive, but a major headache to maintain!

You need to check the brake pad warning light sensor wires they tend to rub through and cause the sensor to give wrong readings.Check that the garage fitted the correct pads some do not come with sensor wires attached. You cannot remove the light bulb that's illegal. When you have found and corrected the fault it can be erased from the ABS ecu memory. If you go to an ex Rover garage they have a dignostic kit called test book that will rapidly find the fault. If this is not available any competent garage can find this fault for you.First thing to do is to check fluid level in master cyl if this ok then you need a code reader. Regards Or if you are good with a multi meter you can also find the fault MIck UK

I also have a rover 75 Y reg. And I have lost count how many times this light comes on that lights comes on, air bag light comes on. I think my garage manny thought I was going daft as every other week I was back and forward. Anyway he phoned up a Rover help line and they told him that rover 75's are notorious for sensor lights coming on and off.
If you you've had everything checked out there is little you can do other than switch the sensor light off.
Never again......nightmare. I should have known better than to buy one.

You could probably pull the fuse for the censor - but are you 100% sure that the censor light isn't accurate and you need to get your brakes checked?

i own a repair shop, and before i removed the light id check to make sure the brakes had been changed on it ,,it pays to be safe rather than sorry ,and if they are good the light can be erased to go off,but if it has a bad sensor on it that may have to be repaired before the light will stay off on it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

the 75 is a reasonably good car. I would just ignore the light, or stick a little bit of black insulating tape over it. You will be able to tell when the brakes are fading just by the feel of them.

The brake pad warning wires pop out of their clips and rub against the front wheels. You should be able to see just by turning wheel to full lock.

could be that the brake fluid level is a little low , open the bonnet and you should see a semi clear plastic reservoir in line with the brake pedal if the level is down , get your local mechanic to top it up
