Generally, humans are omnivores.
We choose to be carnivore, herbivore, or vegan.
You should check Wikipedia for vegan. It could be very extreme.
The leather in your car would disqualify you from being an extreme vegan.
Hope this helps.

Humans are omnivores. Our molars are flat and wide for grinding platn matter, while we still retain canine teeth (fangs) of some sort for ripping and chewing meat. Also, out digestive system does not have a rumen (secum?? i could be wrong on the term), the long branch of intestine-stomach like "stuff" that plant mattter sits in for a long time to be further digested and has the nutrients absorbed. basically, humans teeth and digestive system are optimized for meat and plants.

Even though most People on earth are omnivores, I have evidence that strongly suggests that we are truly herbivores. Here are some points that are common sense... first of all believe it or not we are relatives to apes (gorillas, chimps, orangutans) Our hands are very simular to those of apes, made for picking food such as veggies, fruits, leaves, flowers, seeds etc. And are not for tearing flesh. Apes who have been studdied in theyer natural habitats, eat fruit, veggies, some nuts, some seeds. ONLY if there was a food shortage or times were tough do apes eat meat. Second of all here are some known differences between herbivores and carnivores... The lower jaw of a herbivore can move left to right, up and down. While the lower jaw of a carnivore can only move up and down(try moving your jaw)
The saliva of a herbivore is alkaline, while the saliva of a carnivore is acidic. Human and other apes have alkaline saliva. Carnivores have fangs for biting into flesh, our so called canine teeth are not truly canine like a dog or
cat Carnivores have proportionaly larger kidneys and livers than we have, they need these larger organs in order to handle the excessive nitrogenous waste from a flesh diet. A herbivore's intestines are about 4 times longer than a carnivore. A carnivores intestine is made to be short because meat spoiles quickly and will release harmfull toxins if left in the intestine for too long. Also a carnivore's stomach acid is 10 times more potent than a herbivore, even strong enough to disolve paint on a car! . In proportion humans have long intestines with acid that is 0.1 as strong as a predator.
Third of all just think about things in a natural way... Does the smell of blood or "raw" flesh make you hungry? what about the smell of some freshly cut fruit like a pineapple or an Orange?... Think about this, what is your brain and instincs trying to tell you?
Even though humans are capable of eating meat I believe it makes more sense that we are not made to eat meat. But thats just my oppinion (=

omnivore for the most part, though some like to think that we should simply be 1 of those listed, our teeth are made to chew both meat and fruit/vegetables (therefore omnivore) and we need the nutrients given by both

Honestly, they are omnivore, but some people would decide to be vegetarians. I think they do start off as omnivores, but change their minds on foods. However, we are omnivores.
