I don't think that USA lost the war in Iraq. They wiped out most able men in that country, may be that was the USA policy. One of my son's friend is a sniper and he killed 57 people in Iraq. The shia sunni fights were a part of USA policy to divide and rule.
I would say that they only lost their morality and not the war.
