why would you want to do this?

sprint is CDMA not GSM, so there is no sim chip to swap. with CDMA you must call the carrier and give them the ESN number of the phone in order to activate it. If it is not there ESN (i.e. it's not in the datbase from the manufactor of all the phones that were purchased by xxx carrier.) they usually will not activate the phone. Further you would have to have the sprint software removed from the phone and the xxx carriers software entered into the phone. This is one of the big disadvantages of CDMA or GSM.

If sprint were a GSM carrier you would only have to unlock the phone and pop in another GSM carriers sim chip, but again sprint is not GSM

the terrific element to do is to purchase an unlocked telephone. in any different case, purchase any telephone this is locked on your present day cellular provider employer. That way, you could initiate utilising your telephone as quickly as you receive it by basically putting your SIM card - in case you have a GSM provider. in case you purchase a telephone this is unlocked and from a different cellular provider provider, you isn't waiting to launch it out of your present day employer. This concept is actual for the two GSM (AT&T, T-cellular) as nicely as CDMA (Verizon, sprint) agencies.

All cell carriers lock their phones. Not just Sprint. They don't do this in Europe, so hopefully one day that trend will arrive here.

sprint prety much owns all of the rights to your phone . sorry to say this but its true that s why sprint sucks .. so if you owe any thing ona bill for that phone you might as well throw it away .. becuse as much as it costed or as cool as it is. it would be useless to any one else

porbably depends on the manufacturer of the phone if it is a nokia then you can go online to certian websites and they will give you an unlock code or you can take it to a shop that does things like that and pay them to do it
