Music is the art form of the 20th/21st century. That's been the case since the mid 1960's. Music and records can be a work of art. Listening to a good album is like watching a good film. You never tire of it even though you know what's coming next, instead you look forward to a certain moment. I listen to music now that I was listening to 15-20 years ago. Then of course there is the live experience a totally different thing. Seeing the musicians and singers on stage recreating what you've heard on the records before your very eyes. The thought of life without Frank Zappa, The Beatles, Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones and Alice Cooper is awful. The thought of life without music is incomprehensible. Is music important? Hell Yeah!

It's got to be the lyrics as well as the musical score.
I listen to all genre's of music, and some make me feel better than others.
When i want to relax i tend to listen to soft music, not necessarily love songs.
When i have a lot on my mind,i crank up the music with anything i can get my hands on,as long as it's got good bass and a good beat.
At the present moment I'm listening to a 70's compilation, these take me back to my childhood, although a lot of them i was to young for,but they're great tracks.
My all time favourite has got to be R`N`B.

I guess it depends on whether you are listening or writing it but to me Music is impotant because it tells a story about life. It can change your mood, make you happy or sad. What makes it important depends on the person.

It is a form of expression that cuts straight through all the surface stuff and touches the soul directly. This is because music, in its best form, comes directly from the soul of the musician. Soul to soul contact, that's the thing.

It's one of the great blessings of life and adds to every mood. It's also healing. But, I'm a hearing person. What do deaf people do without it or is it all just rhythm? I think it has to be the rhythm that makes it important. Certain vibrations just make us feel good.

For those who write it, i guess it can be an creative and emotional outlet, as well as an emotional outlet for those who listen to music.
Music has mood altering properties that i think are often either under-estimated, or over-estimated. people either see it as just music, or they see it as a root cause of something terrible. EG: youths who get into gang culture because they listen to music by gangs
