It may be the washer or dryer, but if you are talking about grease stains with no color(just a grease spot-like cooking oil)) I have had that happen several times over the years and finally realized what happens. If a spot of cooking oil drips or is wiped on your clothes, like from french fries, pizza, or frying food,it is usually so small you don't notice it.For some reason it spreads once it is washed.I have found this usually only happens on cotton material.
They only reason I even noticed once was I was wearing my favorite sweatshirt and got a teeny spot on it while eating pizza.I washed it right away and came out with a half dollar sized grease spot on it exactly where the small spot was before I washed it.

Definetly from the washer or dryer. Investigate. Throw some clothes that arent you favorites into the waster. Take the clothes out after you wash them. Look for the stains. If they are there, then you know the washer is to blame. If they arent there, then more than likely it is the dryer. Still, put it in and dry it and check it again.
Once you find out which machine it is coming from, then you could look into it more closely. Unsure of what to do though... Maybe, say if it is the washer, wipe it clean really well and then make it go through several washes with nothing in it. With they dryer, I think all you might be able to do is just wipe the inside really good several times and see if that fixes it.
My sis used to work in a factory. She got grease stains all the time. She got them out everytime by soaking the fabric in plain liquid laundry detergent and letting in dry for a day or two. Then she threw it in the washer with more detergent. But you'd have to fix the problem with you washer/dryer first :)

I've seen that after accidentally washing a ballpoint pen - the ink can smear the washer and hang around for a while. I'm not sure about grease-like substances leaking into the tub from the washer itself, I suppose it could happen. The only other thing I've seen is a town where I lived that had very high levels of iron oxide in their water, enough to rust stain lighter clothes. They even handed out free rust stain removal powder you could use; I guess it was cheaper for them than replacing/relining their rusty water system.

I had the same problem, it's your washing machine. The transmission (motor) is leaking. You can have a repair man come to the house for servicing. Just be aware the parts that he will replace are re-built, and this will occur again. You might consider getting a new one. Or, if you are attached to the one you have, get it fixed. Call the company and have your info on hand, model no. etc. Tell them it's leaking oil. See if they can give you an estimate over the phone. It might not be worth it for you.

It's coming from your washer probably. Most likely a seal has cracked and the oil from the 'mechanical' part of the machine is leaking out. You'll need to call a repair person unless you know all about the innards of a washing machine.

No real offense,,, forgive me.
I very often have the same problem, if I don't empty all pockets,,, especially those pesky candy bars.
I suspect you might check for grease, but it's unlikely. You might also check other clothing included? If this is a chronic problem, pull the back cover off the washer and check for grease working its way from motor to bucket... Again,,, highly unlikely.

I have no thought what's inflicting that situation yet I even have had the suitable comparable difficulty ensue to my outfits. i substitute into making waiting for a storage sale and observed a lot of my very outstanding sweaters, a toddler gown, and diverse different products which were laundered have been crammed with yellow random spots throughout them and not below the armpit the two. i understand some have been yellow throughout which I figured have been in basic terms because of the fact they have been older shirts and that they are yellowing. i'm particularly speaking approximately dime and quarter sized random darker yellow spots. i myself appeared on the ceiling to be sure if I had something dripping on them. not something! i've got not figured it out yet on the grounds that i'm not a bleach person, i understand that may not what it somewhat is being led to from. We do have not undemanding water, yet that seems a good distance off too. i understand as quickly as I hung them up, say a pair of years in the past, they have been sparkling and did not have them on there? i'm curious for an honestly actual definitive answer myself as a substitute of guesswork. various of my outstanding outfits have been ruined and taking a clorox bleach shop on with attempt to get the spots out now have not labored. thank you for listening and for ideas.

Detergent build up in washers over time, try washing an empty load with hot water and 1/2 gal of white vinegar. you may need to repeat this if there is lots of build up. also could be your dryer sheets or fabric softener. You may need to clean the inside of your dryer as well if there is fabric softener build up.

I agree that it is probably the washer. Could also be rust, which means that you may need to replace the washer as it is not worth repairing usually.
