i recall a movie with robert redford, where he is stealing diamonds from a vault, the team have to stay off the floor.....can anyone remember the name of this film, perhaps early 80's or late 70's.

The only movie with Redford and team stealing diamonds is 1972's "The Hot Rock"
Sneakers wasn't about diamonds...It was about computer hacking and Legal Eagles was about a painting.
I had to come back and add the fact that the questioner said the time frame for this movie was the 70's or 80's...While Legal Eagles came out in '86, Sneakers came out in 1992.

its SNEAKERS. 100% sure. Dan Akroyd and ben kingsley also starred. Good film about computer hacking and a theft from the bad guy (kingsley).
