A^2 + B^2 =C^2
Now sub 3 and 4 for A and B. So the equation would be 3^2 + 4^2 = C^2
Then get rid of the powers. ( 3x3 + 4X4 = C^2) so it becomes 9 + 16 = C^2 which becomes 25 = C^2 Then you find of the square root of 25.

Okay...so you have a Right triangle. Draw it. Label the short side (a) the longer side (b) and the longest side which is diagonally slanted: (c)
Now, the Pythagorean theorem states that a (squared) + b (squared) equals c Squared. Which of a, b and c do we have? We have a (3), b (4) and we are trying to find what the third side or HYPOTENUSE is. so lets plug it into the equation 3 (squared) plus 4 (squared) is: 3 times 3 which is 9 and 4 times 4 which is 16......so 9 + 16 is 25 right? But now, we have a situation where we are left with 25 = C (squared). To get rid of the square, you must take the sqauare root of 25 which is 5. So, C=5.

if a^2 + b^2 = c^2
with a = 3 and b = 4
Plug in 3 and 4 for a and b to get
(3)^2 + (4)^2 = c^2
9 + 16 = c^2
25 = c^2
so c=5
Check your work
by plugging in 3, 4, 5 for a, b, c:
3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2
9 + 16 = 25 so this is correct
Note: You will find this same pattern for
similar right triangles with measurements:
6, 8, and 10
9, 12, and 15
etc.
Where the three sides are multiples of
3, 4, and 5 so these are also right triangles.

the three angles of a triangle measure together 180° so A + B + C = 180° as A = 30° and B = 90°, we have: 30° + 90° + C = 180° so C = 180° - 30° - 90° = 60°

Look its not that hard just substitute a and b with 3ft. and 4ft. Then do the math.
3^2 +4^2=c^2
