In the late 70's, were we at war, or at peace? And could you explain why?

I think ultimately, no one wants war. However, we will never solve global problems with a discussion. War is a given in situations such as the one going on right now. Just think about it, if the USA, Australia, UK, New Zealand and many European countries were the only countries in the world, there wouldnt be war. We all WANT peace, its the other crazy bastards that create situations that make us retaliate. War as it seems, is the only answer to the extremists.

Technically we were in a cold war with the Soviet Bloc, but not too many military engagemts happened beyond a few covert acts done by the CIA .

I think we've been a war for a lot of years. It may have not been out in the opened, but I bet we were somewhere we shouldn't have been.

Past 1975 we were technically at peace, but the Cold War continued and was waged vicariously around the globe by nations ideologically aligned with the former Soviet Union or the United States. Both we and the Soviets supplied these client states with the arms they wanted to wage war throughout the Third World.
