Here's some good advice for you:
Go for a vacation for a week or 2 and see if you like it. If you do, then go back home, work for a while at home, save some money so that you can move out there and live there for 2-3 months without a job. Once you have enough money, THEN move there and look for a job. Make sure you have enough money to go back home if you need to, but you will probably find a job within a few months, even if it's just to pay bills and not exactly what you want.
Some warnings:
If you have a gambling problem, then this may be a bad move.
If you have a problem being responsible and just want to party all the time, this may be a bad move.
The way I see it is that if you are irresponsible and have gambling/drinking/partying problems then Vegas will be a bad move, but your problems will still be problems for you no matter where you are. It's just that in Vegas your problems are a lot easier to feed because all that stuff is right there for you.
If none of that is a problem, however, then Vegas is a great place to live. The city, away from the strip and downtown, is a normal city and is growing. Lots of new building of housing, retail, business, etc. because it is growing as a city. Being in the desert, the climate is great. The scenery is also beautiful if you like the desert. If you've been to Phoenix or Palm Springs area and liked it, then you'll like Las Vegas as a place to live. On top of being a beautiful, live-able city, you have the benefit of all that great nightlife right there when you want it, but you don't have to deal with it in your day to day life (unless you work for a casino).
So I say YES it's a good idea, just plan it a little better, and consider that while it's a great place to live, if you are not responsible or mature enough or have an addictive personality it can be more harmful to your growth and be a bad move. Overall though I think it's a great move, just be prepared for it.
I live in NY City metro area and I'm moving to Las Vegas in a copule months. I've been saving up and I have a plan. I will be there for 3 months and if I don't like it I'll still have enough money to come back home. If I like it there and want to stay there, though, I will settle in with a bigger place, nicer car, etc.
Good luck to you!

Vegas can be a great place to live but it all depends on what kind of job you want to get. If you want to be a bartender, casino dealer, lifeguard, etc, there are tons of jobs. You have to pass a strict background check to work in the casinos, especially in the actual casino and not as a bartender or waitress, and you need experience at whatever job you're looking for. If you want a more traditional, professional career (lawyer, accountant, etc) you will have a hard time.
I wouldn't recommend staying for a whole 2 weeks because 2 weeks in Vegas as a tourist is a really long time. You literally run out of things to do. It's not bad if you live there--- you will have your home, your job, your friends, etc to keep you busy--- but 2 weeks in a Vegas hotel can turn into a painfully long time unless you have a LOT of money.

What are you studying that you think would help you get a job? Just remember that the outskirts of vegas is where you'll want to go to look for housing, and you will probably have to have more than one job. A two week vacation in Vegas?? I don't know about that, in the city that never sleeps, that's kind of hard on the body. Good luck and just do what you feel is right.

Well, it definitely depends on your personality.
Vegas is definitely a town for partying, sin, late nights, gambling, anything goes type stuff.
Two weeks may be great for a vacation (although I tend to think a week would be a perfect amount of time to be there); two months may be too short of a time to actually get a job, unless you want to be a stripper/escort or something.

My Dad lives in Vegas and I have been many times. It's a good time but you have to be careful. Don't let the Casinos get the best of you. There is alot of things to do besides gambling. I say go and have fun but be careful!!!
