Not at all. You only have to have a rooster for a chicken to lay FERTILE eggs. The situation is much the same as in humans.

No. The eggs in the grocery stores were not produced with the help of roosters. Eggs are a product of hen's ovulation cycle. It's a fascinating process!

a chicken will lay an egg no matter what, it's just that the eggs won't be fertilized unless there is a rooster

For a chicken to lay a fertilized egg ( an egg with an embro) you need a rooster.
For a chicken to lay an unfertilized egg (the eggs in the grocery store) you dont

yes, you need roosted to start laying.
Chicken keeps laying eggs untill there are 3 of them in the nest, so if you keep removing the eggs, the chicjen keeps laying them.

No because they can lay eggs on there own but they have to breed for the egg to be furtile..
