Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal is a great game that was make for the PS2 if you just got a Playstation 3. Newer games for newer systems usually are made too quickly and have problems. It is a platformer game with great replay value. If you just got the playstation 1 or as its called the psp, you might try, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Medievil, Ape Escape, GEX3 Deep Cover Gecko they are all great games and all of them are tame enough for the whole family.

Star wars battle front 2, excelent game, pretty easy to complete but the replay value and multiplayer battles are awesome!

Well, Fifa for PSP would be good, since you like it. There's also GTA: VC. That's a classic.
