SSI is welfare benefits for the disabled who cannot work due to disability, but who have not worked long enough to qualify for benefits on their work records. Since it is welfare, there is no additional funds that are paid to the children of the person on SSI.
(If the person were getting SSDI, which is based on the disabiled person's work record, the children would be entitled to a monthly benefit check.)
The person on SSI can be court ordered to pay child support, but it will be based on the amount of their SSI award, and would probably be a very low amount, if it gets ordered at all.
Your best bet would be to file for child support and see if you can convince the judge.

Yes, when child support is being assigned, all forms of income are considered (including SSI, disability, unemployment, etc.)
What most adults don't seem to "get" is that child support is not about them, and it's not about the other parent. It's about the child, who can not have ANY income on their own. It isn't the child's fault he or she is in a situation where child support is needed, and it's not the child's responsibility to earn their own way. Therefore, legally, child support (even if it's virtually nothing) has to be paid for the sake of the CHILD, not the sake of the parent with physical custody or a guardian.

first it's "DO people on SSI have to pay child support?" not "DOES"
second why did the previous answerer's assume the person asking the question is on SSI, maybe she is trying to get support from someone who is on SSI.
generally, yes a person on SSI does have to pay though it may be very little.

First of all if your getting SSI then your probably getting SSDI to right, well the child support issue depends on which state you live in because your kids SSDI check should go to the parent which they live with. now in Utah SSDI counts as child support as does it in Wyoming, Nevada, and Colorado. Now the farther you get into the Northeast where you have more abuse of this program you have less tolerance for this and SSDI does count as child support. Maryland, Pennsylvania and DC are golden examples of this.
