I went for a pool job in East Sussex, didnt get in...my advice would be not to worry if you dont get in - they are looking for certain answers and if you dont give them you are automatically out...which doesnt mean your a bad teacher...some of the best and most creative teachers are those that dont 'fit' the mold. Good Luck anyway

Oh and another rather funny tale. When a bloke on our course got accepted onto a teaching pool and got hooked up with a local school, he came into uni really bragging about it (he got the offer really early on and was really showing off about it). Then when he went to the school to look round etc, they didnt like him and decided not to give him the job! So he had to come back to us at uni with a rather red face! So just remember its a two way thing if you get put in touch with a school, its not just a given that they'll definitely give you the job!

If you want to do it . . . . . . . . you WILL succeed!

I wentto teach in a reasonable Primary school in a deprived area. First week I didn't know if I was going to manage (Dear God let me manage next week) at the end of that week I just hoped I could get through to mid term. It was still tough but I realised I could mange till Christmas. Christmas came and I was really sorry to leave them and looked forward to the next term.

I then had a 12 year break at an FE Arts Centre. Finally I went back to a similar school and famously difficult class. They kept spit in their mouths and if I turned to the board would flick it at me from the end of their rulers. Usually 5/6 gobs of spit would hit me. The rest just hit the board. So I had to get everything up before they came in. Same routine . . can I manage next week, can I get to mid term etc.

I managed and even did well. There are times when the job seems impossible. But it isn't and it's wonderful. Have faith. You WILL manage and it will be fun for you and them. The strange thing is that when they meet you out of school you will find nothing but deep respect.

Go for it, you can always opt out if you get a job somewhere else. Bedfordshire has a good one too, that I used last year.
