you can't print more money and put it into circulation in order to get rid of debt. this is an economics question that a lot of people have trouble with. the best answer can be found at the federal reserve website.

The more money is in circulation, they less valuable it is. That is called inflation. Printing more money to pay off the debt would defeat its own purpose.

Money's only of value when it has tangible assets to back it up, we used to use the Gold Standard meaning gold is of value so we offered money instead of the gold which we held in reserve, now I'm not quite sure why we left the gold standard but money is still only as good as the commodity used to back it up
