hindsight 20/20 is where you know exactly what you SHOULD have done after the fact, but of course this does you no good. An example is when you have just had an argument with a person, and you think of a comeback after that person has already left.

20/20 vision is supposedly perfect sight. So hindsight having perfect 20/20 vision refers to being able to see things in History which people at the time may not have been aware of. It is a fault all too often made by many people, lots of them should know better. A good example is the argument over whether the Atom bombs should have been dropped on Japan. The arguments against always seem to rely on information now known to be true but that at the time, either weren't known or at best were known but not believed. With hindsight could things have been handled differently possibly, but that is with perfect 20/20 vision.

Hindsight means looking at a past situation and learning something from it... you see something about the situation NOW that you didnt realize THEN.
20/20 is perfect vision

It means looking back and seeing clearly what happened in a situation or circumstance. In other words, we muddle through life but after we get through some stuff we can look back and "see" things more clearly, of course because when it is over and done with we know more about it all. If only we could see things so clearly when we are faced with it in the moment and have all the information we gather along the way through.
I have actually been amazed how certain people have come into my life and I didn't think anything about it at the time. Then some time later I understood why they were there for me.
