my 2 weeks old son is having acid reflux/gerd problem i think. once we give him formula (2-3 oz), he seems to have formula coming bak to his throt and then into his mouth. he starts chewing then. some times he throws up. he also make "noise" . he does this even after 2 hours after eating. because of this he also does not get good sleep. if i hold him up right he seems tobe doing ok. we tried different formulas but no improvements.

I am in the medical field and can tell you that GERD is very, very common in babies, as a matter of fact most babies diagnosed with colic actually have GERD. Zantac along with thickening the formula with rice works well. You need to feed less at each feeding but feed more often. Burp your baby after every ounce if possible. Hold your baby in an upright position for at least 30 minutes after feeding. Try elevating the head of the crib. Do not put a baby with GERD in a car seat or baby swing after eating. The position that the baby is in when in a car seat or a swing puts pressure on their stomach and helps force them to have a reflux episode. Some of the bouncy seats are at more of an angle and work better since they do not put the baby at such an angle to put that kind of pressure on the babies tummy. Remember your baby will still spit up some no matter what you do because all babies spit up a little. Good luck.

Acid reflux/ GERD do exist in newborns and infants, I would check with your pediatrician if you are concerned about baby's well being. These conditions are marked by extreme discomfort and repeated spitting. Spitting and chewing are part of the process and formula isn't digested as easily as breast milk. The carseat and swing are good ways to help with the spitting, the other is to hold your baby for 20-30min after feeding to let the food settle. It may look like baby is spitting a lot, but as long as baby's gaining wieght you're probably okay.
Don't be afraid to call your provider and ask any question you may have, your little one didn't come with instructions and peace of mind is often just a phone call away!

My daughter has reflux so i feel your pain. she also has a milk protein intolerance so she can't have milk based formula...this actually makes her reflux worse. i breastfeed and use formula. i don't consume dairy and she drink Enfamil Nutramigen (i know its expensive but its gently on the tummy and she tolerates it well). she is also on prevacid at 7.5mg 2x/day. I sit her up for about 15-20 minutes after feeding and i sleep her on her side. she does not like her bed elevated so that was out. she loves sleeping on her side. we had a horrible time with these issues the first two months she was alive and then got on the regimen i explained above and she is like a new baby!! also, she is now six months and appears to be growing out of the milk intolerance and only seems to have some reflux issues early in the morning and right around bath time (6:30-7ish). I don't know if any of this is going to help but i think the prevacid is a lifesaver (i heard zantac stops working after a while) and my ped said that there is a correlation between severe reflux and a milk protein intolerance.

I saw that same reaction that you described in a friend of mine Baby a few months ago. I would say make sure just give him the exact amount formula recommended by the nutritional care. Do not over feed. Don't jump to conclusion but it is possible that babies can have diseases like adults does. Just make sure that you do the right procedures into following up on your Baby's condition. As far as Acid reflux disease a mild and simple solution is Organic Apple Cidar Vinegar " with the mother" By Spectrum and Braggs companies that make it Or for a baby just organic apple juice with no added sugar. Go to vinegar for life.com to do your own research. PLEASE DON'T GET YOUR BABY ON PRESCRIPION DRUGS THAT YOUNG!

Please, please, please, do not ascribe adult medical conditions to a child, especially not a baby. The sort of thing you describe is perfectly normal. Even if it is something slightly not right it is highly unlikely to be anything near as bad as reflux or Gerd. In fact both are unheard of in babies!!
If you are worried seek proper medical advice.
You are the guiding light for your child and it's future. Please use common sense and do not scare it into an early grave with worries of adult diseases. Use common sense and love.
You have years of joy ahead of you. Relax and enjoy. Seek good help and advice if you have a problem and for goodness sake do not look for advice here!!!

My daughter had that. Ask the doctor about liquid Zantac. try letting him sleep in like a car seat or a bouncy seat where she is sitting up a little bit. that way he can not throw up. when they lay all the way down they tend to get heartburn and makes them throw up.

formula....yucky. To bad you didn't decide to breastfeed it's a lot easier on them. You could put the baby to sleep in a swing chair where he's sitting upright all the time, or his car seat.
