It is an often used excuse by various political groups to avoid actually doing anything about unemployment. If it exists at all it is entirely a matter for business to resolve. However, since business is about making a profit and not necessarily being altruistic somewhere along the line government must step in. This means some sort of insurance against becoming unemployed so that a person and their family are protected until the next job comes along. This usually applies to people in the so-called lower paid sector, unskilled. etc etc.

I'm quite sure that there are some that find it difficult to find a suitable job. However, looking at the workshy tossers that walk past my house in a morning, obviously NOT on their way to work, I begin to wonder whether I am doing it wrong and I fancy a spell on the dole. Or more commonly, on sickness benefit because of a bad back, depression....etc,etc,etc..
If you WANT a job, there are plenty out there. Go to an agency and they will have you working within the week!
Just not on the 12 quid an hour that these lazy b*stards are after!

Yes it does, my wife has been on it a couple of times since we have been together. You have to qualify for it by meeting some requirements that have been determined by your state and the federal government, in just about every case you have to be fired or laid off and in very few instances for quitting. Of course for the latter there are very special requirements that prove that you deserve to get unemployment.

I can't find a job... but I'm not on any benefits as it's only been a few weeks. But from my experiance I'd say unemplyment does exist and it's a big problem. See more and more people are getting qualifications and they're pushing out those who don't - you need qualifications for the stupidist of things nowadays!

No it is a figment of your imagination, actually those who don't "work" are actually paid by the government to justify tax raises.
