Im looking into colleges and I want to major in music as a flute player. Im looking for a 4 year university wtih a large, successful music program. A good marching band is something I would really like to have, and a number of pep and jazz bands too. Anybody have any suggestions, if you went to a certain college or you have heard of one like this?

University of North Texas has a great music program. Several professors of music at my university got their graduate degrees there and a friend who is a world class drummer has his degree from UNT.

Most of the things you want are going to be at the bigger university programs. There are trade-offs with going to big university as opposed to a smaller program. I believe undergraduates should try to stay pretty close to home, and finances are always an issue, so you might have to "follow the money."

Try to visit the schools you're interested in. They're a lot different in person, believe me!

-I used that website senior year of high school during the big college search and it helped me search through colleges based on specific information(Such as Majors, Cost, Location, and Scholastic Rank) I was looking for. Not only was that a huge help, but it also has scholarships, student loans, and college aids you can apply for right there on the website. I'd highly recommend it.
