Pay the child support and provide proof to the Child Support Enforcement office that it was paid. They will then notify the DMV that it is ok to lift the restriction on your license.

all one needs to do is to have a potential employer type up a letter with there company's letter head promising you a position with them as soon as you obtain a drivers license. Take that letter yourself into the district attorney of child support collections office. And show them the letter and they will drop the suspension forth with. i know because i have done it 3 times with no problems...

losing a licenses due to not paying support is one of the lamest laws ever.
Those who live in eastern cities might not understand but out west if you lose you licenses it's almost impossible to get to work to pay child support.
So if anyone reasonably expects some one to pay support then the last thing you want to do is make it impossible to pay it. Ding ding clue alarm. And prison even more lame, make tax payers pay to support the non payer while making it impossible for them to pay, how stupid is that. The US is the number one power because we got rid if "debtors prisons"
sorry i didn't answer your question but some people are clueless like many of the previous answers.

Take care of your child. If you would pay it in the first place, then you wouldnt have to worry how you are going to get to work without a license:) makes sense

Pay your damn child support like you are supposed to. And don't give any excuse. Your kids...you should pay...
I think that it's awesome that people lose their DL for that. Maybe if you lose something you will know what it's like to have a hard time. Kids are expensive and need your support.
Take responsibility for your actions.

in most states you have to either pay all child support up, or pay support plus arrears payment on time for at least three months, then file again.

I must be missing something here, if you fail to pay support you lose your license? What state is this?
I'd think they would just garnish your wages.
