Huge Radiohead fan. Try Exit Music for a Film. Whole song is about two lovers who run away from home, sort of Romeo and Juliet style. Really cool words. Take a look at the lyrics:

Wake... from your sleep
The drying of your tears
Today.. we escape
We escape.

Pack and get dressed
Before your father hears us
Before.. all hell.. breaks loose.

Breathe... keep breathing
Don't lose.. your nerve.
Breathe... keep breathing
I can't do this.. alone.

Sing us a song
A song to keep us warm
There's such a chill
Such a CHILL.

You can laugh
A spineless laugh
We hope your rules and wisdom choke you
Now we are one
In everlasting peace

We hope that you choke.. that you choke
We hope that you choke.. that you choke
We hope that you choke.. that you choke

Yes, absolutely! Hero by Mariah Carey is an excellent song you can share with others. It's about loving yourself even if you lost everything that you still have yourself. Another one if you're christian or believe in God is "Held" by Natalie Grant. It's a song about a very difficult life and nothing is going right and God is there to catch you when you fall at the very end.

This may be too old for you but, the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen is a good one. There is a line in the song that says "Momma, i just killed a man. ect ect. it is about the lead singer, Freddy Mercury, finding out he had AIDS, and knowing that he had probably passed them on to his lover.

yes, beyonce'-irreplaceable. it talks about how if your man ain't right or he cheating and stuff and he say he is and you'll never find someone like him, that he is wrong cuz you can replace him. and you already have somebody waiting for you. it's a really nice song, it is the perfect song for a break up for somebody that's cheating or for someone who's gf or bf is saying they are the best thing that they got and they can't replace them.

Most country songs have this quality, but I think that "Beleive" by Brooks and Dunn would be a great choice

there are a lot one that comes to mind 1st is sara mclachlans : angel(we played this at my daughters funeral it can hold different meanings
Angel:
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
HOLD ON FOR ONE MORE DAY!
I know this pain
Why do you lock yourself up in these chains?
No one can change your life except for you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really fair to feel this way inside?
Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say good bye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know
Things can change
Things will go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things will go your way
Hold on for one more day
You could sustain
Or are you comfortable with the pain?
You've got not one to blame for your unhappiness
You got yourself into your own mess
Lettin' your worries pass you by
Don't you think it's worth your time
To change your mind?
I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and
Break free the chains
Yeah, I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and you
Break free,
Break from the chains.
Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say good bye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day, yea
If you hold on
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day,
If you hold on
Can you hold on
Hold on baby
Won't you tell me now
Hold on for one more day 'cause
It's gonna go your way
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can't you change it this time
Make up your mind
Hold on
Hold on
Baby hold on.
