I think if you can move it, it is probably not broken. So, I don't think you need a trip to the ER, however, you should see a doctor so call first thing in the morning. The doctor should order xrays just to make sure it isn't broken. In the meantime, put a splint on it. Get something stiff that will not bend and have someone tie your arm to it. A folded magazine works great. Put it under the palm of your hand, tie at your hand and half way up your arm. Regardless of the outcome, I suggest you ot do any cartwheels for 6-8 weeks.

RICE:
Rest (Don't move it)
Ice
Compression
Elevation (Above the level of your heart--do this for DAYS!)
Follow the above to address any initial symptoms. Then pack your things and go to A&E for an x-ray and further treatment as indicated. Whether you can move it or not is irrelevant--as is the level of pain you are experiencing. Your injury could be a sprain or a fracture. There are many bones and ligaments in your wrist area. There is no way but an X-ray to accurately diagnosis it.
The injury may require surgery--both sprains and fractures sometimes need an operation to fix the problem. However, the sooner the surgery (if necessary) is done, the better the result.
Do yourself a favour and have the experts have a look at it...go to A&E.

Can you move it? My son (3) just broke his arm and the emergency clinic didn't catch it the first time. They x-rayed his wrist and hand but not his arm and we had to go back 3 days later. It is best to get it checked out by a professional if you are in a lot of pain that doesn't seem to be getting better and if you have limited movement of some degree.

Could well be broken. I broke my wrist doing less than that, so go get it checked out at the hospital...;
PS
I just read the other answers, you can still move a broken wrist so thats not something to go by. I was using my wrist for 3 DAYS before I got it X Rayed and found it was broken!

If you broke your wrist you would be in EXTREME pain. Gently pull on it like in a stroking motion, sliding and gently pulling with good hand, down the arm, towards the bad hand/wrist-all the way to the fingers.. Then move it, with a fist, thumb to the side, up and down, to the sky and to the ground. Two exercises.

Hi, it could be broken as i did something simalar, and my GP said it was a sprain, so he gave me painkillers but it didnt work so i went and got it checked at A&E and it was actually broken. It may be a sprain but its better to get it checked just in case. At least you will know. good luck.

I think if it was broke, you wouldn't be able to move it at all. You may have a sprain, maybe some torn ligaments. Go see a doctor asap!
