I tend to agree with the sea salt and very warm water.
The antibiotics my doctor gave me did little if anything at all. Sorry, I decided to go back to the way of my grandmothers. Being one myself, it's high time I practiced what I preached . After all, who do you think taught the doctors in the first place.. old wives/grandma's .

Oh my goodness, I have never had strep throat so I'm not sure what the best alternative treatment is but anytime I have any throat ailment I do a salt water gargle 3X/day, use my echinacea throat spray, drink lots of teas that have the herbs licorice, chamomile and echinacea. Whole foods market carries great teas specific for throat issues. I usually also take extra vitamic C and echinacea to boost my immunity. The truth is (which any doctor should know) is we all always have the bacteria Streptococcus in our throats. We have bacteria all over in many parts of our body especially our skin and they serve a great purpose. The reason we get strep is not becuase of the Strep per se is because the environment in our throat changed for the worse which allowed them to multiplywhich is why we need to live as healthy as we can (eat right, exercise the whole deal) . when they test you for it they are looking for a certain 'high' number of the bacteria meaning there's always some!. many bacteria are getting smarter and smarter by mutating and are becoming resistant to all the drugs we put in our systems to 'get rid of them' and plus antibiotics are soooo toxic. the best thing you can do is try to be as healthy as you can and take action immediately you notice symptoms, don't wait till they manifest into something bigger. Hope this helps.

Treating strep with natural therapies is probably not the smartest thing to do. Antibiotics, if used appropriately, will knock out an infection, and by appropriate usage I mean taking the full amount of pills prescribed. Never stop just because you feel better.
However, alternative treatment will help after the antibiotic treatment is finished. Acidophilus and other yogurt cultures will help re-establish the good bacterial flora in your system. Drinking Pau D'arco tea is a good way of preventing a re-infection of strep after you've finished the antibiotics. These will both help bolster your immune system and prevent a recurrence, but get some antibiotics to nuke that strep.

well you should get yourself to a doctor asap.
Little known fact: strep use to be the number one killer among children.
Streptococcus: A group of bacteria, familiarly known as strep, that cause a multitude of diseases. Illness caused by strep includes strep throat, strep pneumonia, scarlet fever, rheumatic fever (and rheumatic heart valve damage), glomerulonephritis, the skin disorder erysipelas, and PANDAS.
Since it is caused my a bacteria then antibiotics can be used but if it's just a simple sore throat then it's viral and you can use Vitamin A.

Water as hot as you can stand it, 1/2 cup, with 3 tablespoons sea sat. Gargle every 2 hours. Your strep will be gone by the end of the day.

If you refuse to see a doctor, then go to health food store and get some goldenseal powder. You can take it in capsule form or make a rinse and gargle. It is very bitter, so the rinse is hard to do. Also be careful because you can overdose on this herb, and it could result in bloody noses. Good luck and feel better. Oh yes, also, you should gargle with warm salt (sea salt not iodized) water.
