She has tubes in her ears - they were put in 2 weeks ago. She is a little cranky, but never has run a fever with any ear infections. I'm concerned about her shaking her head like this. Anyone ever had this happen?

Yes, she started doing this after the tubes were put in. In fact, she just started doing it this week.

Yes, my son (who is now a year and a month old) used to shake his head from side to side when he was a little baby all the time. We never figured out why, but he loved doing it. He would even put himself to sleep doing this.

I think it's normal for some babies and I don't think you have any reason to be concerned about it.

Hello! I was frantically searching the internet this evening for some sort of answer to this very question; my son is 7 1/2 months and started this just last night. He is otherwise very happy and healthy. Fortunately, my husband is a medical sales rep and is having dinner with 3 of the 4 pediatricians in my son's pediatrician's office as I type this! He described the behavior to the table of docs and RNs and the general consensus is that my son is adjusting to the end of daylight saving time. He is "off" by an hour and his little body is fighting exhaustion. I too was worried about ear infection, autism, and seizures (I always tend to be one of those that thinks the worst...). If it doesn't stop over the next few days as your little one adjusts to standard time, take her in to reassure yourself. I hope this helps - I know I feel better!

Tubes make it easier for fluid to drain from the ears. So now she can hear better and her ears arent stuffed up. She is probably just getting used to the feeling of hearing everything.

My son will be 4 months on the 7th and he has also done this to when he is tired. I think it's just his way of winding down. He is a very healthy baby and I'm sure everything is ok with your granddaughter. Good luck!
