I consider myself to be well-versed in this subject as I have bought 4 iPods in the last two weeks. My two sons wanted 30 Gig iPod Videos for Christmas but then we realized that for $100 more (total $350) we could get 80 Gig ones. More than twice the space for $100 more...seemed like a no-brainer. Then my iPod Mini died so I wanted to replace it. I decided to go with the new 2nd generation iPod Shuffle...1 Gig of space and it is SO tiny!!! I love it. Bu then I wanted something to hold more music for times when I needed it, so I was trying to decide between the 30 Gig iPod Video or the 4 Gig Nano. I went with the Nano. Mostly because it was smaller and had flash memory instead of a hard drive so it is easier on battery life and not as succeptible to being damaged if dropped...and ok...because it came in pink instead of just black or white like the Video. I can't watch movies on the Nano but that's what my laptop is for.
Good luck!!

Get the 80 Gig Video iPod. You can do so much with it. I recently bought one, and I can watch movies, save pics, listen to music of course. The screen is extremely clear and it is now 60% brighter. If you don't use all the 80 GB space on music, you can also store documents in it which means you can use it as and external hard drive if you want, just in case you need to store files you don't want anyone else to see, including people you mights share your computer with. The money you spend on the 5th generation iPod is definitely worth it.

if youre a pack rat and doesnt easily let go of things in fear that youll regret it and need it later then get a video ipod. if u like to exercise and like randomness and dont have an extremely large music collection the get the shuffle. if u have the qualities of a shuffle but need to see what you want to listen to the get the nano. ive had a hard drive ipod, my mom has a nano and now im getting a shuffle because its more convenient for me and i found that i mostly listened to the same 100 songs most of the time.
