I've never burned a DVD before, and what I have is a CD rewriteable drive. I can burn CD's no problem. But I want to burn DVD's. Is there anyway I can do this with a CD rewritable drive? I can watch movies on my computer. I have a DVD ROM drive.

I'm sorry darlin but unless you have a DVD burner your chit outta luck. Also, copying DVD's is a little more complicated than ya might think. Exspecially store bought. They have a built in code in them and are a very large file download and that's if you was to be able to download them. Sorry, good luck till ya get a DVD burner. Come back then and I'll tell ya how ta decode and copy them. Good luck. Mikie.

Unfortunately, no. It sounds like you have a combo drive. A combo drive can play both CD and DVD but can only burn CD. You need to purchase a DVD burner if you want to burn DVD. The price of combo drives and DVD burners are almost the same. So, you are better off buying a DVD burner which is $5-10 more than a combo drive. You can purchase a decent DVD burner for about $35 USD at Newegg (http://www.newegg.com). They have weekly specials.

Pretty darn easy actually, take All About Winston's advice and get another burner. Use AnyDvd and 1 Click Dvd Copy 5. AnyDvd removes any kind of protection on the disc and does great job of it. Look at places like www.2baksa.net (some adult stuff on the side but if you can ignore it you will find some great programs) www.download.com
This should be enough to get you started!

you have got to get a dvd burner, they are cheap here: http://www.tigerdirect.com
once you have it installed you will need software that will burn dvd's for you. I use DVDXCOPY and CloneDVD, both of these are simple to use.
also you will need blank dvd's, you can get them cheap at http://www.rima.com
on rima search for "1686" that is the one I use and it will play in any dvd player.
