The word "speed". It was another way of saying to put on some music. Most music during the 1920's thru the early 50's were palyed on record players that turned at a very fast 78 rpm, thus the slang term. I first heard this term in the early 50's.

Mine was the a-word. I learned it from a wrestling show. I accedently repeated it to my mom, and I was in a whole lot of trouble. I was only 8 then, and I don't cuss anymore now that I'm 16.

Ain't. I've heard it my entire life, it is one of the most commonly used words in the area I live. I remember proving to my teacher that it was a word by looking it up in a dictionary in 5th grade. My class dedicated a recess to proving it. She still wouldn't let us use it though.

Tough. We used to say "tough neat" or "I had a tough good time" or even "toughly". It was about forty years ago in New Mexico and I was about eight or ten. My mother actually threatened to slap me if I didn't stop. She was so not tough cool.
