i don't know you are local or foreigner? working or studying? your preferences? you mentioned 'get out' so does it mean just a few hours or days? n i don't think any happening place in KL/PJ is not crowded ! so you better really 'get out' of KL/PJ !
The nearest places [suitable for day trip or longer if you so wished] of interests are [1] Genting Highland - casino, theme park n cold air [2] Fraser Hill - greenery, bird watching n cold air[3] Putra Jaya - modern building, man-made lake with beautiful scenery n wet land [4] Templer Park - jungle n cold stream [5] Batu Caves - 272 steps up the hill, Indian temple, caves n monkeys [6] Ulu Langat - greenery, streams n fishing [7] Bukit Tinggi or Janda Baik - country side view, greenery n streams etc etc. If i continue then people may think that i worked for Tourism Malaysia or travel agent !
If you are working, try visit your colleague home town when they 'balik kampung' [go back home town] as it may be an eye opener especially those country side villages. In Malaysia, never feels bored ! if you required futher/extra info[foc] on places of interests, please email me !

If you are looking for the 'scene', the 'scene' is bound to be crowded. Try going to the parks at TTDI, or lake gardens in the evenings. Lots of sweaty chicks around!
