Hey!
http://www.beinggirl.com has a lot of useful information about periods.
Try talking to your mum or an older sister, if you have one.
Congratulations on becoming a women :-)

just do a search on yahoo. WebMD is an online medical site, may have some advice.

As far as tampons or pads....Use pads first, they're easier to be comfortable using anyway...wait a while before tampons..but when it comes to tampon brands..I've tried a couple different brands and the best I've found is Gentle Glide by playtex. I get the dual pack, half regular (for a normal flow amount) the other half in the pack is for a bit heavier flow. Theres scented and unscented... I usually get scented even though it doesnt seem to have a scent...just helps to hide any possible odor that may occur.

Also a great thing I've found during that time is using Summers Eve cleansing cloths. They're great to use instead of toilet paper during that time of the month.

Can you talk to your mother, an older sister, one of your friends, or your gyno? It's hard to believe that you aren't aware of what's happening physiologically. You might want to wait a while before trying tampons, and use pads instead.

kotex.com

Start with pads, move on to tampons if you feel comfortable. And shower EVERYDAY! You have to keep clean down there and keep away odor.
