Use a square piece of paper. Most folks have typing paper, or lined paper somewhere in their homes. Those papers are 8.5" wide by 11" high. Make a square from this paper that is 8.5" wide by 8.5" high. Go from there.

If you want a bigger snowflake, you'll need to get bigger paper. If you want a smaller one, start with a smaller square.

It really does depend TOTALLY on how big you want your snow flakes to be.

Life size snow flakes could be made from offcuts as small as 1mm x 1mm if you include the really fine powdery snow.

You might need paper at LEAST 20" wide if you are making them big enough to be seen individually half a mile away.

Do you think it might have been helpful to explain a little more about what sort of purpose the flakes are for - so we know if they need to be 1:1, scaled up etc.

I recommend using a regular sized computer paper so it can be a regular size but if you would like it to be bigger use a bigger piece of paper.
