Genetics means that now we can begin to change the DNA of certain organisms to work for us. EX: bacteria injected with a DNA changing virus might now help us whereas the normal bacteria would have been harmful

It helps to tell one family genetics from the past, for instance did Great Grandma have diabettes or was there heart desease in the family in the past, how much if any cancer was in past ancestory. It also gives proof of relationship and ancestory and/or if your genetics was on the scene in a crime.
