hello,my husband has been working with present employer for two and half years and the company will be closing down on the 22dec06, he is unsure of what redundancy/12 week severance he should be entitled to,he has just been given his 30days notice,any help advice would be great thanks.

12 week severence means that he will be paid 12 weeks after he is laid off. If the majority of the company are being laid off, more than likely, they will be given government assistance, two years of free education and unemployment, unless they can find other jobs.

He will receive a 40 hour pay check for the the twelve weeks
after the company closes. He is lucky, i only got six, one for
each year of employment.

Is he in a Union, if so they should provide advice, failing that contact the local job centre or Citizens advice, they will be able to tell him the statutory payments he will be entitled to.

He needs to talk with payroll or human resources. They would be better equipped to answer his questions.
