I couldn't agree more. I'm hoping they have a let down against UCLA and it'll be a mute point...but I'm not holding my breath.

Just a point for all to consider -- The reason Michigan currently is #3 has to do with scheduling Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, and Ball State.

USC scheduled Nebraska, Arkansas, and Notre Dame.

Don't start with the "Our conference is tough" arguments. There is not a team in the country that can control how tough any conference is.

Scheduling easy opponents might look good in the W/L record, but it will kill you every time in the strength of schedule department.

I answer this question with caution, since I had given my opinion to a question earlier regarding USC, and I think that Yahoo is a USC fan.

In my totally biased opinion, I think that Ohio State and Michigan should be playing for the national title. You say, 'why should they play again, they already played?' I say that the two best teams in the country should play for the national title every year, and Ohio State and Michigan are the two best teams in the country this year, regardless of their rankings; BCS, AP, Harris,etc.....

Texas has lost, twice...Auburn has lost, twice...Florida has lost, to Auburn and had more than a few unimpressive wins against MUCH lesser competition...USC has lost, to Oregon State (very unranked, all year, all polls)....Arkansas has lost, twice, to USC ( B I G ) and to LSU..... ND has lost twice, very.... V E R Y.... B I G to Michigan.....in South Bend and to USC ....Rutgers, West Virginia, Louisville and Boise State .....I shouldn't even have to mention......

Bottom line, Michigan lost to Ohio State, who has been # 1 all year (including the preseason) at OSU, by 3 points.....if that doesn't merit a rematch ( on a neutral field ), then you are a fan whose team is trying to get into the national title game, or, you just don't want to see the best two teams play for the national title.

I won't fault anyone, ever, for being a fan of their team, I never have. If you have a favorite team you should defend them, always, but, if your team isn't one of the two best teams in the country, then you should be happy that the two best teams in the country are playing for the national title.....

PLEASE, don't root (or RANK) against a team just because you don't like them. As fan of college football you should always want to see the two best teams in the country play for the national title, each, and every year. That is what the BCS was created for, to end the arguing amongst all fans throughout the country, and crown a true national champion.

At the end of it all, USC's or Michigan's worst scenario is playing in the Rose Bowl, in my opinion the greatest of all bowls (also it was the first ever bowl game....Jan. 1,1902 Michigan 49 - Stanford 0)
So I'm not complaining that Michigan might not make the BCS NC game, I'm saying, simply, that the two best teams in the country should play for the national title....every year.

I know we have seen Ohio State and Michigan already but I think Michigan is a better team than USC so I would not mind seeing OSU and Michigan get it on again , we will see what happens , just think if we had a playoff system we could just let the games be played and the best would prevail the way it should be , we could always wish !

I totaally agree with you but unfortunatly the pollsters seem to have developed a left coast slant in recent years. I guess it matters not that USC lost to a non-ranked team..... O well too bad the bowls generate such vast sums of money or we would have a true playoff system.

As for the people that argue strength of schedule, that does not fly. If you say michigan has a week schedule than you must remove ohio State from the #1 spot. They have virtually the same opponants.

Thanks for the kind words for my Huskers

I think USC should get a shot. Look at how good they are and the players they lost. I don't want to see Ohio ST and Michigan again. It's already been played. I'm not a USC fan by the way. Badgers all the way. Give them a shot

speaking of strength of schedule USC has a pretty good argument
Arkansas
Notre Dame
Cal
Nebraska
Very quality opponents

Michigan had
Notre Dame (better win head to head)
Wisconsin (only loss)
loss to Ohio St.
Okay

Overall USC has the better argument but MIchigan had the better win head to head against Notre Dame

if you're talking about common sense, there's a lot more to look at than just who a team lost to when it comes to strength of schedule.

other than notre dame, who has michigan played? ohio state and wisconsin. on the other hand, USC beat arkansas, nebraska, oregon, cal and notre dame!

if you're going to talk about strength of schedule, then why don't you talk about the entire strength of schedule? not just one aspect of it.

USC should be in the championship - they've have an amazing coach (and they'll bring in the $$$ for the networks and whether we like it or not, that's what's it's all about).
