I want to get in touch with an old friend that I haven't spoken to in two and a half years. We were pretty close friends at some point, but she said something so awful about me and I very quietly cut her off. She is really not a bad person and I understand that nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. I want to put the past behind us. She recently had a baby and I want to congratulate her for that. I have her contact info but I feel a bit awkward. What do you think?

Contact her see what happens. Just call her or whatever and say congradulations. Then see what happens next.Let fate take its place. I hope that helps.

A friend is a friend, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to offer congratulations.
