I've heard great things about it from employes at the Apple store and im curious to see if it is as great as it seems. I currently own a gateway computer with windows and i have more virus than you can possibly think of, from what i've heard it is impossible for a mac to get viruses. I'm just wondering if you have one do you love it and is it really worth the 1500 dollars?

This is a personal decision and depends what your situation is and what you want to do. Here are some ideas.

* If your main concern is viruses there are couple of possibilities:
- Install an anti-virus software and also an anti-spyware software on your existing PC. There are some good anti-virus/anti-spyware software out there that work transparently in the background to keep your PC in tip top shape.
- Get a Mac. Viruses and spyware don't currently pose any serious threat to Mac users. There are many reasons for this, to name a few: 1) Macs are Unix based and are more secure compared to Windows XP (though this could change with Vista), 2) Market share for Macs are small and as such there aren't very many people targeting Macs.

* Another factor to consider is what you want to do with your computer. Keep in mind some applications may not be available on Macs. Having said that most main stream applications, including Email, Word Processing (including MS Office), Browsing, Image Processing, etc are available and work on a Mac.

* If you are into gaming Windows is a better choice, though you have an alternative:
- Alternatively, you can have a dual-boot configuration and run both Windows XP and Mac OS X on your Mac computer. Though you need to buy a separate Windows XP license (more $$) and also you need to dual-boot, which may or may not be practical in your situation.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Yes, get a Mac. I actually switched over from Windows to Mac this month. It's great! It's VIRTUALLY impossible (but possible, rarely) to get viruses. And you can get the Mac Mini for $599! (No screen, keyboard and mouse). Or the iMac G5 for $999 (17" screen)...Macs are awesome, especially since you can run Windows on it (why would you want to anyway?). Go on, get the Mac!!!!

Macs are expensive to buy, expensive to repair and upgrade, and all-round over-rated. In a recent smackdown gaming contest between a hotrodded Mac and a hotrodded PC, the PC walked off with the prize. Ultimately the PC can be modded up until it is almost on fire with speed - Macs are good but limited.

Best thing to do - install Linux on your PC. Because you don't need ANY antivirus for Linux, it runs blazing fast and clean. Did you know that the Microsoft Update site runs on Linux servers - even Microsoft secretly acknowledge that Linux is brilliant!

Here's a great easy-to-read Acrobat PDF summary of Linux which I found:

Macs are the best!
They can get viruses, but few and rarely. They are easy to use, and customer service is excellent. If you get one, join your local Mac Users Group!
