If you think of it though...look at when they lost. If you lose later in the season you dont have a chance to get your confidence back. If you end your season on a bad note you dont have a chance to prove yourself after a loss. Michigan already got a shot at OSU and they lost. Its not USCs fault that they dont have a tough schedule. They had to play Cal. and NotreDame who are both ranked teams. Michigan didnt have a very tough schedule themselves except for the game against OSU.

Just a point for all to consider -- The reason Michigan currently is #3 has to do with out of conference scheduling Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, and Ball State.
USC scheduled Nebraska, Notre Dame and Arkansas.
See a difference in those opponents? Hint: To be considered among the best, you have to schedule some of those teams that are traditionally the best.
Don't start with the "Our conference is tough" arguments. There is not a team in the country that can control how tough any conference is.
Scheduling easy opponents might look good in the W/L record, but it will kill you every time in the strength of schedule department.

I answer this question with caution, since I had given my opinion to a question earlier regarding USC, and I think that Yahoo is a USC fan.
In my totally biased opinion, I think that Ohio State and Michigan should be playing for the national title. You say, 'why should they play again, they already played?' I say that the two best teams in the country should play for the national title every year, and Ohio State and Michigan are the two best teams in the country this year, regardless of their rankings; BCS, AP, Harris,etc.....
Texas has lost, twice...Auburn has lost, twice...Florida has lost, to Auburn and had more than a few unimpressive wins against MUCH lesser competition...USC has lost, to Oregon State (very unranked, all year, all polls)....Arkansas has lost, twice, to USC ( B I G ) and to LSU..... ND has lost twice, very.... V E R Y.... B I G to Michigan.....in South Bend and to USC ....Rutgers, West Virginia, Louisville and Boise State .....I shouldn't even have to mention......
Bottom line, Michigan lost to Ohio State, who has been # 1 all year (including the preseason) at OSU, by 3 points.....if that doesn't merit a rematch ( on a neutral field ), then you are a fan whose team is trying to get into the national title game, or, you just don't want to see the best two teams play for the national title.
I won't fault anyone, ever, for being a fan of their team, I never have. If you have a favorite team you should defend them, always, but, if your team isn't one of the two best teams in the country, then you should be happy that the two best teams in the country are playing for the national title.....
PLEASE, don't root (or RANK) against a team just because you don't like them. As fan of college football you should always want to see the two best teams in the country play for the national title, each, and every year. That is what the BCS was created for, to end the arguing amongst all fans throughout the country, and crown a true national champion.
At the end of it all, USC's or Michigan's worst scenario is playing in the Rose Bowl, in my opinion the greatest of all bowls (also it was the first ever bowl game....Jan. 1,1902 Michigan 49 - Stanford 0)
So I'm not complaining that Michigan might not make the BCS NC game, I'm saying, simply, that the two best teams in the country should play for the national title....every year.

I agree, Michigan should play OSU...in the title game
1. BCS is screwed up (Wisconsion has the same record as Michigan and they don't even get looked at for the BCS title game)
2. Why didn't Michigan play Wisconsion and other Big Ten teams rather than Ball state?
3. The OSU-Michigan game, turf was screwed up.
4. Michigan rules!

USC beat more ranked teams than Michigan, so they deserve their shot.
Look at their wins against Arkansas, Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame, all ranked teams.
