I am 31 yrs old and have had my tubes tied. Since I was 13 I have had ovarian cysts 3 time that required surgery, I have also had precancer of the cervix and endometryosis 4-5 yrs ago. Now I am haveing abnormal and irregular periods for 4 months. I saw my OB/gyn a few weeks ago and now he thinks that I have fibroid tumors in my uterus. I do not have insurance so he didn't do all of the tests he wanted. He wants me to get insurance and then get a hysterectomy. What do you think?

Since you already got your tubes tied up, having a uterus serves no further purpose when you suffer from endometriosis and have precancerous lesion on your cervix. Presence of fibroid does seem odd. Notwithstanding, go ahead and get your uterus removed but remember to send it to pathology as you would want to know the present details of the precancerous lesion.

I think you should get insurance, but as far as the hysterectomy? Find out for sure about the fibroid tumors and if surgery is required to remove them, I'd say go for the hysterectomy instead. Make sure you really don't want to have children before you do something that is irreversible.

You could try the Nova Sure, (thermal ablation) first. They cauterize your uterus. Everybody I talk to said they no longer have a period after this. On some people with fibroids it will work also. There isn't any down time. I had it done on a Thursday and was back to work on Friday. Unfortunately mine didn't work because my fibroids are too big. The receptionist in my Dr. office said I was the first she had heard that it didn't work on. Also, check with a social worker at the hospital where you would have the surgery and sometimes they will figure how much it will cost based on your income.

I usually answer in Alternative Medicine, so forgive me if this is not what you want.

BEFORE you have a hysterectomy, go to the health food store and get a tincture of Red Root or combination of Red Root and Violet Leaf. Take a dropperful 2-3 times daily for 10-15 days, then once a day for the rest of the month. This is known to reduce or eliminate fibroids in the uterus and breasts. Violet Leaf is used to treat cancer in these areas. You can buy online if your local store doesn't carry it.

If you get relief from this, continue with the Red Root once a day. Take for 6 days and rest one day, indefinitely.

Hysterectomy brings its own set of problems. It is a drastic last resort.

hysterectomies are hard to get. i had to move to arizona to find a dr willing to give me one and i had been fighting problems for 10 years. arizona has its own health insurance for people who cant afford health insurance, its great. i never thought i would be living in az, but life is so much better now that ive had the hysterectomy!

your situation sounds serious. the question is, do you want to have children? but I am guessing that even if you do, it would be difficult to have them w/ your situation. I would totally get a hysterectomy so that all this pain and discomfort can be minimized. get insurance now! good luck!
