I need to know whether the movie follows the same plotline as the book. I have to do a report on it, and I am going to finish the book, but it can be difficult to understand at times due to my limited knowledge of WWII. So I was going to rent the movie to help me understand it better but I don't want to watch it if it's different, it will confuse me.

The movie follows the book well enough to help you with understanding the book. As far as WWII knowledge, read a history book or find a good encyclopedia entry. The Holocaust was not really a part of WWII, though it occured during the war - it was an outcome of a horrible government and leader who wanted a "pure" race of people. Schindler used the war to get rich by making things necessary for war and then grew a conscience and used his money and influence to save lives.
The book fills a good bit of detail the move leaves out but I feel they complement each other well. Read the book and be affected by the movie.

Hang in there and finish the book -- it is well worth it, even if you have to struggle a bit to get through it. Then read: "I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree" by Laura Hillman. She was on Schindler's list and survived. It took her 6 decades to summon the strength to write her story. It's beautifully done. She wrote it for younger readers, but people of all age can benefit from this marvelous book. Keep going! Even though Schindler's List is an OK movie, it's nothing like the book.

Wikipedia will probably tell you the difference, it did with V for Vendetta. The movie has a different audience and they have to tailor they're presentation towards this people, and the medium of presentation is also different. I love that movie though. I just saw it again Wedensday night.
