I'm not attacking women here but I just wonder if there is a physical problem why women cannot reverse a vehicle into a designated space as well as men.

This is a blanket statement and there are very few of those that are accurate. And this isn't one of them.

I think, on average, that men are better at stuff like backing mostly because they drive more (it's still rare to see a family out somewhere with Mom driving and Dad sitting in the passenger seat). They also know more about cars and it's more of a point of pride with them to be able to do the tricky stuff well.

In my business, we do deliveries all over the country, and I own fifth wheel cargo trailers (22', 24' and 36') that we pull with F-350 pickups. It's been my experience that it's easier to teach a man how to handle, back up, and to negotiate narrow streets with those kinds of rigs than it is to teach a woman (I was always trying to get my various wives to learn, but with limited success).

But I think part of the reason for that is women are just more intimidated by the size and unfamiliarity of the things and are more handicapped by that perception, than by any innate inability to learn as quickly as a man does.

Men WANT to master things like that - the bigger the better - but a lot of women seemed a little spooked by them and would just as soon let men continue to handle the job of messing with things like that

But plenty of women are perfectly capable at that stuff, as well as backing up a car.

So, all men are better at parking a car than all women?

That's an amazingly stupid statement!

Do you really believe that stereotype?

So, if I had to back up a car - and I should tell you that I do not own a car nor have a license [hey, I live in New York City - we don't drive here! that's what the subway's for!], I would do a better job of reversing that car than Indy car driver Danica Patrick, just because I'm a man and she's a woman?

You are very sexist, and have a very stereotyped view of the world!

Speaking as a women I agree it is so annoying watching women trying to reverse there car you would think that most of them believe that they are driving a bus not a car. This is not all women as I can reverse my car with no problems.

Hey man, I don't know what sort of women you hang out with that can't reverse a car.
I'm 53, can reverse a bus, a truck, a van, or a car into the tightest spot.
I'm trying to teach my husband to drive at the moment. There are plenty of skilled drivers out there, male and female, go out and meet a few.

What are we supposed to do jam it into reverse sqealing the wheels all the way missing a garbage can or parked car by an inch then ram into drive and squeal away? What does it matter in the grand scheme of things? As long as she backs out carefully and gets the hell out of the traffic then she's a champion dude!

There is a reason alright and i am not trying to be rude or anything. This is the case because for the most part women are always going forward and some men just love to go backward. I agree with Andrew-bless his heart!

my own interpretation of a few issues examine in some places,-- including 'adult adult males are from mars, females are from venus' and a few text fabric books on organisational behaviour in behaviour technological information,-- is that females tend to work out and communicate area as an entire, universal, mutually as adult adult males view the focussed slender beam of the limited section that they are in contact in at a given time! this could additionally be using fact females, from their desires, are extra protection wakeful and elect to be circumspect with an eye fixed on the peripherals around, mutually as adult adult males could desire to be extra adventurous, not stricken a pair of lot of issues on the outer edge! besides, it particularly is all a generalisation: many females tension alright, manouevre alright, mutually as many adult adult males are undesirable in manouevres like reversing the vehicle!

Women lack spatial awareness. They have other traits which compensate for this, such as dexterity.

Examine women in supermarkets....they will stop their trolleys at the narrowest part of the aisle and engage in long conversations, oblivious to the fact that they are blocking other customers. That is spatial awareness, that is why they can't reverse cars.

I think it's all a matter of confidence.
On the whole women have a better sense of spacial awareness than men.
But have more difficulty judging which side of the road traffic is on when they're driving at night, scary eh.
