My mom purchased a brand new GE front load washer and dryer in August 2011. Her GE Front Load Washer started making noise after 1 1/2 yrs. Warranty only good for 1 yr. She was told by the Sears Repairman that it will cost between $800 to $900 to repair it. It is cheaper for her to go buy a new one. So I called GE and they informed me that the rear barrel w/bearings (which is broken) isn't part of the 10 yr. warranty that came with the machine. My mom and I are totally sick because they made it sound like the 10 yr. warranty covered all major parts but it only really covers the motor nothing else. So my suggestion is don't buy a GE Front Loading Washer because it won't last 2 yrs. The extended warranty isn't that great on it either. So now I'm in the process of attempting to find her another front loading washer (because she loves the front loading washer). Surely will be a different brand this time. No GE for her. All my appliances in my kitchen are GE but I'm thinking I may change that as soon as I can. Feeling a little cheated/scammed by GE!

We have had our Kenmore front load washer and dryer since May and love both of them. Lost of options for washing and drying. So far so good.
