What is this "personal life" of which you speak? ;)
The easy answer is to say "Of course" - but it's not always easy. It's an addictive game. It's *designed* that way. Blizzard is bringing in $10 million a month in subscription fees, so they want people to play for as long as they can keep them for.
With that in mind, you need to be a conscientious player. Set limits - know when your bedtime is, maybe assign one or two nights a week to play, something like that. Don't simply wake up, log in, play the game, go to sleep, etc.
Make sure to pursue other interests - hang out with friends, go see a movie, go outdoors... basically, make sure that there are other things that you are doing so that the game doesn't become the sole thing you do. If you've got goals in the game, make sure they're realistic - don't try to do something that will require you to log 40 hours a week on it.

Yes, its very possible. The trick is to remember that it's just a game and life takes precedence over it.
The whole, "play only one hour a day" bit doesn't cut it. I have 2 lvl 60 characters and 1 that is lvl 58 along with a slew of other smaller toons. After about lvl 25 or so, its hard to get anything done in an hour. You can but you have to set your goals extremely low. I play any where from 8 to 24 hours a week, sometimes a bit more if I'm planning on raiding.
My girlfriend (we live together) knows that all she has to do is say the word and I'm off the game in a second. No rancor, no bad mood. She is way more important to me. It helps that all the people I play with regularly know and understand (and support) this.
Just remember where your priorities are. And if you can't prioritize something as being higher than WoW, you have pretty much decided that WoW is your personal life.

I think you can, as long as you are good at managing your time. When I used to play I couldn't spend more than 5-6 hours per week on it, usually never longer than an hour per session (really busy with my course load in college). It was fun, I got to socialize with my sister and brother-in-law mostly. There are aspects to the game that you can only do if you can invest a lot more time (10+ hours per week easy), but those might not be the aspects of the game that you enjoy. I recommend trying it out, and deciding for yourself. Unless you have an addictive personality of course :)
I didn't really care for the endless fighting, but I loved exploring new areas, and gathering minerals to make cool stuff! I wish they had more content for crafters, and ways to enjoy the game without endless killing of monsters. But overall it was fun. Over xmas break I'll have enough time that I'm thinking about restarting my account.

Plan your life in blocks of 4h....
I love the game, but i raid 3 nights a week and a sat morning. The rest of my time is spent in real life working, with my GF and thinking about WoW.

Not unless you play an hour a day but then you might as well stop playing because you wont be able to get anything important done in an hour.
